Central Westchester Indivisible
Newsletter #8 - March 13, 2026
IMPORTANT - Please see the discussion below regarding:
1) our first CWI rally this Sunday, March 15, at 1:00 at Richard Presser Park (Webb Park) in Hartsdale; and
2) our first CWI general meeting on Sunday, March 22, at 1:00 at Greenburgh’s Gerald J. Byrne Center in Ardsley. We hope to see you there!
Donald Trump continues to expand his destructiveness from the United States to the rest of the world His unnecessary war with Iran with no clear purpose, and incompetent or no real planning for the day after, is killing thousands of innocent civilians, along with the many more being killed by Israel in Lebanon, while also doing severe damage to global energy prices and fertilizer markets with resulting harm to food production, gas prices at the pump and the financial markets. Just yesterday, the S&P 500 dropped 1.5 percent, hurting the businesses, individuals and the pension funds upon which many workers depend. Of course, the war obviously costs the government a huge amount of money, money that comes from all of us. According to news report the war cost $11.3 billion in the first six days alone, more than extending the Affordable Care Act for a year would have cost.
Importantly, this is not a popular war and Donald Trump’s already low popularity will inevitably drop even more. Unfortunately, his response is to try to keep people from voting against the Republican party in the upcoming midterm elections. Trump is now refusing to sign any other legislation until his Save America bill is passed - he thinks it will hold down Democratic voting and is putting enormous pressure on his always compliant Republican party to support the bill. For more information on the Save America Act, see the excellent presentation by League of Women Voters at a forum earlier this week.
CWI is part of a nationwide group of Indivisible chapters and many other organizations fighting to protect our rights and to stop and reverse the Trump administration’s damage to the United States and the rest of the world. This newsletter describes some of the actions you can take.
Locally, CWI’s first general membership meeting will be on March 22, from 1:00 to 2:30, at Greenburgh’s Gerald J. Byrne Center. The Center is at Anthony Veteran Park, Room #1 (Main Meeting Room), 11 Olympic Lane in Ardsley.
Our goals and future actions, among other things, will be discussed at that meeting.

EVENTS
First, our first CWI rally! It will take place from 1-2 pm on Sunday, March 15, at Webb Park in Hartsdale, also known as Richard Presser Park (206 - 210 N. Central Avenue). We anticipate focusing on ICE and the war in Iran and we are looking forward to seeing many of you there.
Second, CWI is continuing to actively plan our local No Kings rally on Saturday, March 28, in the parking lot at Greenburgh Town Hall 177 Hillside Avenue in Greenburgh from 10-11 am. That should give you plenty of time to join us both in Greenburgh and then at the Tarrytown No Kings rally from 12-2 pm. Please contact us at cwindivisible@gmail.com if you want to be a rally monitor or to otherwise help us make a major statement right here in Central Westchester. For planning purposes it would be helpful if you could give us a tentative RSVP on the No Kings webpage. If you need transportation to the rally, please tell us and we’ll try to arrange a ride for you.
Third, please see upcoming Indivisible activities at https://www.mobilize.us/indivisible/event/889837/.
Fourth, please see additional No Kings rallies at https://www.nokings.org/?SQF_SOURCE=indivisible%23map. You’ll also find a list of upcoming training programs by clicking on the link.
Fifth, from the Campaign for New York Health, please see the following about health care lobbying opportunities.
The profit motive in healthcare drives up costs, harms patients, and wastes billions. For less than we already pay, New York could guarantee universal, comprehensive care by cutting out profit-seeking middlemen. As federal healthcare cuts kick in—doubling the uninsured, closing hospitals, and spiking premiums—New York can fight back by passing the New York Health Act and putting care over profit.
The CNYH Capital Region Healthcare Hub will be at the Capital each week this session to lobby our State legislators.

Seventh, Melting ICE Locally
CD16/15 has a very active Immigration Committee. The following slide deck explains what is entailed in doing “Know Your Rights” community work to help advocate for our neighbors who are being targeted, as well as describes the community network and actions being taken in the Riverdale-Kingsbridge section of NYCD15. You can review the slide deck to get the gist of it.
An immediate way to help out locally is to make a donation to Yonkers Sanctuary Movement; they are doing invaluable work and need all the assistance we can give them. You can also help them with their nonperishable goods wishlist. Go here to learn more.
Eighth, Immigration
NY State Actions: Contact your state Senators Find My Senator | NYSenate.gov, Assembly members, and Governor Hochul (518-474-8390) to pass and enact NY4All which protects our communities by prohibiting state and local resources from being diverted to ICE and federal authorities in most cases. NYS must refuse to carry out an inhumane mass deportation and detention agenda. Info at Take Action: New York for All - NYC, Long Island, New York State | New York Immigration Coalition - Revision
Federal (Congress) Actions: Stop ICE funding at the Federal level: Demand our Senators hold firm on funding restrictions without controls on ICE. You may also ask for a "Clawback" of previous ICE funding in the "big beautiful bill".. Sen. Schumer 202-224-6542 and Sen. Gillibrand 202-224-4451 daily. Look here for the script. Call your Congressmember as well. Thank Rep. Latimer for his support.
Ninth, Voting
And while you're calling Congress, also tell them to defeat the SAVE Act, which will make it more difficult to vote for millions of Americans, and force states to share their voter rolls with the Federal government. See the link above to the League of Women Voters presentation as well as the following from the Brennan Center for Justice. New SAVE Act Bills Would Still Block Millions of Americans From Voting | Brennan Center for Justice
Tenth, Renewable Energy
