Central Westchester Indivisible
Newsletter #6 - February 27, 2026
For those of you who watched the State of the Union or, better, watched the People’s State of the Union, you know the state of the union is bleak. Whether your focus is on immigration and ICE/CBP, the Rule of Law, health care issues, various types of discrimination, affordability, union/labor issues, protecting our environment, corruption by the Trump family and their cronies, foreign policy and Trump’s apparent interest in being emperor of the world, or a myriad of other issues, you know we have our work cut out for us.
The midterms in November of this year will be key to our ability to make progress and a fair vote is essential to making that progress. That’s why the Republicans will be trying their best to limit access to the polls. We’ll be looking for opportunities to protect the right to vote.
CWI is part of a nationwide group of Indivisible chapters and many other organizations fighting to protect our rights and to stop and reverse the Trump administration’s damage to the United States and the rest of the world. This newsletter describes some of the actions you can take.
Locally, CWI plans to hold its first general meeting on March 22. We’ll provide details in a future newsletter. For now, please help as we plan both that meeting and our future goals and the actions that will be discussed at that meeting. If you’re interested in helping, please contact us at our email account, cwindivisible@gmail.com.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
Please see below. And, as usual, we request that you provide us with information to include in future newsletters. You can do so by sending an email with the pertinent information to our email account. Please include the word "Event" in the email subject, so we know what to expect.
Also, please see our new website. We are going to do our best to keep you informed through the newsletter, the website and additional emails as necessary.
EVENTS
First, unfortunately, due to the impending storm this past Sunday/Monday we decided to cancel our February 22 demonstration. It’s happened twice and we’re going to wait for more dependable weather before rescheduling. Stay tuned!.
Second, CWI is actively planning our local No Kings rally on March 28. Please contact us at cwindivisible@gmail.com if you want to help us make a major statement right here in Central Westchester.
Third, please see upcoming Indivisible activities at https://www.mobilize.us/indivisible/event/889837/.
Fourth, on March 10, Moms Demand Action, Everytown and their partners will hold their 2026 Advocacy Day in Albany - see their description of the event below:
Join New York Moms Demand Action, Students Demand Action, Survivors and Partners in Albany for our 2026 Advocacy Day as we rally and meet with legislators to promote common sense gun laws! No experience necessary! Further logistical information, including carpools and exact legislator meeting times, will be provided to those who RSVP. Sign up to find out more, even if you can only attend a portion of the day. Wear red and join us to advocate for a New York free from gun violence!
To register, please click here.
Fifth, from the Campaign for New York Health, please see the following about health care lobbying opportunities.
The profit motive in healthcare drives up costs, harms patients, and wastes billions. For less than we already pay, New York could guarantee universal, comprehensive care by cutting out profit-seeking middlemen. As federal healthcare cuts kick in—doubling the uninsured, closing hospitals, and spiking premiums—New York can fight back by passing the New York Health Act and putting care over profit.
The CNYH Capital Region Healthcare Hub will be at the Capital each week this session to lobby our State legislators.

Sixth, finally, we’ve been asking you to contribute information about additional events and one of our members provided the following very helpful information:

Svetlana and Carmen in Larchmont stsalik@gmail.com
Holly and Janet in Dobbs Ferry hollybeach3@gmail.com

Melting ICE Locally
CD16/15 has a very active Immigration Committee. The following slide deck explains what is entailed in doing “Know Your Rights” community work to help advocate for our neighbors who are being targeted, as well as describes the community network and actions being taken in the Riverdale-Kingsbridge section of NYCD15. You can review the slide deck to get the gist of it.
An immediate way to help out locally is to make a donation to Yonkers Sanctuary Movement; they are doing invaluable work and need all the assistance we can give them. You can also help them with their nonperishable goods wishlist. Go here to learn more.
Immigration
NY State Actions: Contact your state Senators Find My Senator | NYSenate.gov, Assembly members, and Governor Hochul (518-474-8390) to pass and enact NY4All which protects our communities by prohibiting state and local resources from being diverted to ICE and federal authorities in most cases. NYS must refuse to carry out an inhumane mass deportation and detention agenda. Info at Take Action: New York for All - NYC, Long Island, New York State | New York Immigration Coalition - Revision
Federal (Congress) Actions: Stop ICE funding at the Federal level: Demand our Senators hold firm on funding restrictions without controls on ICE. You may also ask for a "Clawback" of previous ICE funding in the "big beautiful bill".. Sen. Schumer 202-224-6542 and Sen. Gillibrand 202-224-4451 daily. Look here for the script. Call your Congressmember as well. Thank Rep. Latimer for his support.
Voting
And while you're calling Congress, also tell them to defeat the SAVE Act, which will make it more difficult to vote for millions of Americans, and force states to share their voter rolls with the Federal government. New SAVE Act Bills Would Still Block Millions of Americans From Voting | Brennan Center for Justice
THANKS FOR EVERYTHING YOU’RE ALREADY DOING. LET’S CONTINUE TO STAND TOGETHER TO MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD!
