For those of you who are new to Central Westchester Indivisible (CWI), and did not see our first newsletter last week, welcome! We’ll be sending you regular newsletters to update you on CWI activities and events, as well as events planned by other Indivisible chapters and allied groups in and near our community. Important and Time-Sensitive Updates
The CWI Rally scheduled for this Sunday, January 25, is cancelled because of the major snowstorm expected this weekend. We’ll be rescheduling and will keep you advised of the new time through the CWI Newsletter.

Tomorrow, Friday, there will be a National Day of Solidarity with Minneapolis. There will be a rally at BJ’s, 3303 Crompoud Rd, Yorktown Heights from noon to 1:00 pm. There will also be rallies in Washington Heights from 4:00 to 5:30 (sign up to obtain the address) and at Union Square in New York City, from 4:00 to 5:30 pm. Congress is voting on a budget bill, providing an excellent opportunity for Congress to clearly reject ICE’s fascist tactics and to refuse to provide additional funding for ICE. While the House voted 220-207 this afternoon to support the bill and its continued funding of ICE, Senate action is expected next week. Please call Senator Schumer, Senate Minority Leader, and urge him to lead Senate Democrats to a strong vote against adding new funding for ICE. In addition, please call Senator Gillibrand and urge her to vote against additional funds for ICE. For contact information, click here.

Many of us rallied in the very cold weather on January 20 at the White Plains Free America Walkout. The speakers were inspirational and we all made a strong statement. Let’s keep up the good work!
